CAVING, AN UNDERGROUND WORLD

Gabriel Morales Fallon

One of the activities that I like the most is the exploration of large caverns and caves or underground cavities, it is known as caving. It is also considered as an extreme sports activity and studies the bowels of the earth. The limestone rocks that form some mountains are eroded by water, forming spectacular cavities in the subterranean parts. Speleology is a science practiced by people who have courage and determination, who do not suffer from claustrophobia and who like extreme sports, great adventures; In addition, these extreme adventures offer great recreational and scientific attractions. These expeditions to the interior are traveled by great challengers who travel many meters (800, 1000, 1200 meters and more) with depths as great as one of the deepest peaks in the world, which is 2080 meters and is located in Krúbera Voronya in the Western Caucasus.

For those who are not afraid of contact with many of these living beings, they can enjoy wonderful formations, rivers and very narrow cavities, which can only be explored by people of slim size. In these places there are also entrances with large and small caves, various formations such as stalactites, stalagmites and calcium formations, as well as several meters high with rock formations that form in the mountain ranges; the water erodes them and limestone rocks are formed with spectacular cavities. There are also rivers and lakes; they are wonders that surprise their visitors. Its accesses can be from the sea, from the rivers or from the land.
