This initiative is from the Plastic Free Foundation in order to invite consumers to decrease the use of this material. We must bear in mind that plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental problems facing the world. Studies say that if no action is taken now, projections suggest that these materials will triple in the ocean by 2040.
According to what the UN says, the problem is serious since it is a component that is present in millions of products that are imported and exported. What is a matter of alarm is that there is no international policy that allows us to have a good management of this waste that although some are reciblated, a large percentage is still disapproved.
It is currently estimated that 11 million tonnes reach the seas each year and the figure may rise to 29 million tonnes in the next two decades. That is why the Plastic Free Foundation proposed a project called “plastic free July” to encourage more than 365 million people to reduce the excessive use and consumption of plastic in 117 countries. This pollution, is a reality and we must take action, although many organizations work every day to generate changes that favor the environment, we must also become aware of what we do, reducing the use of plastic is a way to start helping, also use reusable bottles, which can be recharged, carry reusable cloth bags to make purchases, avoid buying products that have 1-use plastics, in short, there are many ways in which we can contribute to take care of our planet.
